ABOUT THE ARTIST: "RAY WINNER"

We who appreciate art & what one creates by hand, can consider ourselves some of the luckiest people (If not blessed!) , the day that engineer/welder "Ray Winner" stopped at a yard sale & came across a box of silver wire & thought to himself, "if I can create something on a large scale, then why can't I create something on a smaller scale"? And that's exactly what he did ,was he went back to his home in the desert & taught himself the art of silversmithing, by using his skills as an engineer/welder, but only this time, it was backed by pure artistry. Of course there were mistakes where he had to learn by trial & error, but as he got better & better, his creativity also grew to enormous heights & is now considered a "Master Metalsmith" & sought out by name in only the "finest" Southwestern galleries.

Creating jewelry now for just over 50 years, Ray has his own unique style that is easily identifiable & WITHOUT copying others.. He works in both sterling & gold & is his own lapidarian who cuts all these incredibly shaped stones you see in his pieces.(Including these fabulous cuts of New Lander in these earrings!) Ray lets the stones 'speak' to him that then dictate the design. The stones will have a beautiful smooth beveling & are brought to an optimal level of beauty!

NEW LANDER( CHALCOSIDERITE)

This rare natural gem is a cousin to turquoise & is found in Nevada..It was once called turquoise, but now is recognized in the rock world for being a stone all it's own. 

Quality in stones are graded for their hardness, with this stone ranking high on the "Mohs" scale of hardness. What is so unique about Chalcosiderite, is for the fact that it has some phenomenal rich matrix patterns & has a variety of greens,from minty(Variscite), to khaki greens,to yellow greens.. Truly a fascinating stone that has found it's way into the hands of southwestern artisans,as well as buyers who just love the look because of it's unique stunning spiderweb matrix patterns!

THE EARRINGS:

Futuristic looking as if they stepped ahead into 2095, these earrings have some of the most exquisite & extremely impressive workmanship that you just don't always come across.

Made in a dual textured sterling, these are made in a abstract figure form, where the round textured tops act as the head & the drop as the body.The body has a cut of New Lander that is impeccably cut in an elongated trapezoidal form & is dominated by it's black webbing.It's tubular type arms are tucked close to it's body & have cuts of Mediterranean coral accents that are in the curl.(See photos) There is a small 14k gold bead at the top of the New Lander.(photo 12)

These are highly collectible "Wearable Art" earrings & no matter what you get with this master artisans name attached,will only hold their value & have a quality to be passed down to future generations!
