THE EARRINGS:
I personally think it’s truly remarkable when an artist can simply look at the shapes of the materials they have on hand and envision what those pieces could become as a finished design. It takes a distinct kind of artistic vision and confidence to work with — and fully embrace — the natural shapes, textures, and colors of the stones, letting those elements guide the creative process.
Made in a “Figural” linear drop design, the baroque coin pearl serves to emulate the face, while the rectangular cuts suggest the shoulders and arms, and the linear slices of colorful abalone represent the body, creating a stylized, sculptural silhouette.
On one earring, the abalone displays vibrant, shimmery metallic copper tones, along with bright chartreuse limes and intense periwinkle lavenders, all nicely complemented by subtle hints of golden yellow. Although it was a bit challenging to capture the exact coloration in the matching earring, I did my best to show its pretty pinks in the photos, but couldn’t quite reproduce its true color. That earring shows mainly all the vibrant pinks it has, especially when turned in the light, and also reveals those warm coppery tones with touches of chartreuse lime and soft periwinkle. The design is finalized with a naturally formed Baroque pearl drop.
These can go as elegant as you wish, but I personally wouldn’t hesitate wearing them during the day. However, this is your call.
Except for photo 8, I did not use any features when I edited the pictures that would give you a false color, but rather, what I did do, was turned the abalone toward the light so you can witness all the color that is naturally there. You will see their true color, when you get them in hand. Please go through each photo to see any variation.
PLEASE NOTE WHAT PRICING IS BASED ON :
Not only have Federico’s prices increased, but the cost of what artists are now having to pay for materials, has gone up as well. (Sterling & Stone) These things are what are reflected in the price for these.
With the cost of sterling going into ‘increase’ mode and literally being out of control, the rising cost is reflected in what artists have to now must pay per gram or ounce for the metal.. Artists are now charging more because of this.
Also factored into the price for these, is the artist’s name and reputation, the number of carats and the cost per carat for the materials used.. Also included is the need to compensate the artisan (And or staff) for their time and expertise required to create these.
