ABOUT THE MAZAHUA:
The Mazahuas are an Indigenous people of Mexico, primarily inhabiting the northwestern portion of the State of Mexico and small parts of Michoacán and Querétaro. The largest concentration of Mazahua is found in the municipalities of San Felipe del Progreso and San José del Rincón of the State of Mexico. There is also a vast presence in Mexico City, Toluca and the Guadalajara area. The jewelry designs that come from the Mazahua artisans, were deeply influenced by the jewelry that was brought into Mexico by the Spaniards during the 1500's.The Spaniard's brought with them many of their designs, (including filigree) with many such as these earrings, becoming a popular mainstay, where this design continues being produced today.
THE EARRINGS:
These, personally, have always been some of my absolute favorite earrings because of their delicate beauty and their authentic, undeniable Mexican look. One of the best things about wearing these earrings, is the incredible versatility they offer! I find them to be one of the best 'go-to' earrings—not only when I'm wearing my embroidered Mexican clothing but also with many other styles in my wardrobe. They already possess such a sweet, feminine feel thanks to the little Palomas, but when you add those vibrant, colorful cuts of orange spiny oyster, that's truly what gives them their unique and unmistakable Santa Fe'an vibe!
They are extremely wearable without ever going over the top, effortlessly striking a balance by saying more with less! Plus, they are undeniably super SEXY on! (I can say this confidently because I own them in every gemstone color available!) These earrings are perfectly sized—not too big, and certainly not too small—giving you that impeccable 'just right' look every time you wear them.
Each pair is entirely hand fabricated by one of Federico’s highly skilled Oaxaca artists, who painstakingly design every tiny detail you see in the sterling silver. From the delicate etching on the doves to the precise feather separations, every element reflects masterful artistry. The filigree wire elegantly follows the outline perimeter and serves as a sturdy anchor for the dangling parts, ensuring they move gracefully while staying securely attached. These earrings are thoughtfully designed to be somewhat mirrored, meaning there is a specific right and left side to wear them correctly, with the front side of the dove facing toward the wearer’s face.
In Oaxaca, Paloma birds hold a very special symbolism, representing "Eternal Love," which makes these earrings a truly meaningful choice for weddings. They carry love and romance in every detail, making them perfect not only for brides and wedding days, but also for any occasion when you want to wear a genuine, authentic Mexican earring with deep cultural significance.

*****I find photographing anything with 'yellow' in it, (orange, green) can come up a little more vivid than other colors,so please take this into consideration. Please be aware that each monitor varies and also plays a role in how vibrant or less vibrant as something appears. If you need more photos, in different areas of lighting, please let me know! *****
In order to give you close up photos so I can provide you with all the detail, can tend to make the item look much more larger & everything is more magnified & exaggerated than in actuality. So to get an accurate idea of how big these are, please either check them out being worn to get a rough idea (photo 2 & 8) or you can pull out a tape measure & compare to my given measurements.
